Rolf Boldrewood is the author Thomas Alexander Browne best known for his novel ‘Robbery under arms’. this is an example of colonial romance as well as an account of the life and conditions on the goldfields. Written out of the authors immediate experience as Goldfields Commissioner at Gulgong in the 1870s, it also links back to the Chinese riots at Lambing Flat, the robbery of the gold escort at Eugowra, and some aspects of the Eureka stockade.
