About Seddon Book Alley
Robert’s passion for books and book repair brought him to open a secondhand book shop in Seddon Village. Seddon Book Alley, a generalist store, has everything from children’s books to biographies, art, and top-selling Australian and international crime and fiction.
Seddon Book Alley began as a pop-up store in an alleyway just off Charles St, specialising in secondhand books. After 18 months, Robert moved into its permanent retail space in Victoria St after an overwhelming response from the local community and visitors.
“We enjoy customers travelling from across Melbourne and regional areas every week saying that this is the kind of bookshop we need. It’s clean it’s tidy, it’s light, and people are just rapt that we have been here for five years.”
Some book niches you can find include:
- cooking and wine (he is a chef by trade)
- history (national, international and local)
- music
- fantasy, graphic novels and sci-fi.
Seddon Book Alley also provides a bookbinding service, Rebound TXT. Rebound TXT repairs customers’ old and worn treasures by reattaching torn off spines and repairing well-worn pages.
